Large unique Thai Marble Phitsanulok Buddha Statue with Flaming Arch surrounding the head of the Buddha seated on a beautifully carved double lotus pedestal is similar to the style seen in Wat Yaj in Phitsanulok, Thailand. Although we have seen some small marble statues in this style, this large marble Buddha statue is unique in its size and is hand carved from one piece of marble.

The carved flaming arch above the head of the Buddha extends downward with a crouching dragon seated on top of the lotus flowers flanking each side. The Buddha is seen here seated in half lotus posture “ardhapadmassanaor” with the right leg over the left and hand gesture in bhumisparsa, the earth touching mudra.
