A Beautiful Early 19th C Mandalay Wood Alabaster Buddha Statue, standing on a lotus pedestal. The head and foot section with lotus and hands are all separate pieces. Unfortunately, due to age, the fingers on both hands, being the most vulnerable part of the statue have suffered somewhat, this does not detract from the beauty of this near 200 year old Buddha statue.
A row of glass beads decorate the forehead extending from ear to ear with elongated earlobes almost touching the shoulder, thayo lacquer represents small flattened hair curls. The robe is fully gilded with gold leaf and decorated with green glass mosaics bordering the edges of the robe and on the layered frilled lapel extending over the shoulder and down the back. A floral decoration in thayo lacquer decorates the edges of the robe and lapel.
